October 6, 2006

For over 54 consecutive years, Joseph "Don" Allen selflessly served the citizens of the Red Bluff community as a firefighter at the Red Bluff Fire Department.  Over those years, Chief Allen worked his way up to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief; a position that he proudly held for many years in our department until his retirement in October of 2001.

We are saddened to report that Chief Allen passed away several days ago in Red Bluff.

At the request of his family and with respect to his own wishes, no public services have been planned.

In honor of his memory, and in recognition of his service to his country and community, all city government flags have been lowered to half-staff.

So long Chief.  Thank you for helping shape the Red Bluff Fire Department into the wonderful organization that it is today.  We will never forget your patience, dedication, sacrifice and leadership.

On June 25, 2003, in recognition of his 54 years of service to the community, the Red Bluff City Council dedicated the Joseph "Don" Allen Training Center to our remarkable leader (pictured in the center).
