On July 22, 2004 the Tehama County Mosquito and Vector Control District and the Tehama County Health Services Agency announced that a dead crow found in Red Bluff has tested positive for the West Nile Virus (WNV). 

The diagnosis was confirmed after extensive diagnostic tests performed by the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratories in Davis, California.
